Discovering Siquijor: A 3-Day Itinerary for the Best Island Experience

Hey, travel fam! 🌞 After dreaming of visiting the mystical island of Siquijor for what feels like ages, I finally got to cross it off my bucket list. If this island is calling your name too, here’s everything you need to know for an epic 3-day, 2-night stay. Let's dive in!

When to Visit Siquijor

The ideal time to explore Siquijor is from November to April, when the weather is dry and sunny. But remember, Siquijor’s tropical vibes bring the occasional unexpected shower, so keep a light rain jacket handy just in case.

How to Get to Siquijor

Siquijor is just a hop, skip, and a ferry ride away from major tourist spots in the Philippines.

Ferry
From Tagbilaran, Bohol, you can also take a 1.5-hour ferry. Just keep in mind that ferry schedules are a bit unpredictable, so check with your accommodation for the latest info.

Getting Around Siquijor

To truly explore the island, renting a motorbike is the way to go! I rented mine right at the port for PHP 400 per day. Bring your driver’s license, as they’ll need to verify it before handing over the keys.

Essential Tips for Your Siquijor Adventure

-Cash is King: Make sure to bring enough cash. ATMs that accept international cards are only available in San Juan and near the port, so plan accordingly.

-Spotty Signal: If you need reliable connectivity, Siquijor might not be the place for you. Wi-Fi can be unreliable, and mobile data depends on your SIM card. Smart and Globe work better here, but I was on Dito and had zero signal the entire trip.

-Book Return Tickets Early: Siquijor ferries can sell out fast. I found myself stranded because the last OceanJet to Bohol was fully booked. Instead, I had to take a 3-hour Lite Ferry, which leaves from Larena Port (note: OceanJet operates from Siquijor Port). If you’re planning activities, make sure to lock in your return ticket early.
